Beware of Outlet Shopping

You should shop with an objective

When you decide to shop in an outlet, you should have an idea what you are looking for. These stores are huge and it can be overwhelming just stepping inside and not knowing what you are looking for. Before leaving home, go to your wardrobe, make a shopping list and stick to it! You will be glad you did.

Stay on track

When you have made up your mind what you want; whether it is a casual or formal outfit, go directly to the right store. Locate the sales person and ask for what you are looking for. This will allow you to be focused on the choices you make to take to the fitting room.

Not another black piece

We all know that experts say black makes you look more petite. While this is true, most women over the age of forty tend to have too many black pieces in their closet. Unless you are going to a funeral, need a basic black jacket or skirt, put some color into your wardrobe. Avoid purchasing another black item unless absolutely necessary or you will end up spending money you don’t have!

Don’t allow the sales price to seduce you

Of course, you know all outlet stores carry discounted items. Don’t be tempted to purchase something that you don’t really need. Proceed slowly and ask yourself if you really need the item, if you love how it fits, if you love the color and the style, if it makes you look and feel special and if it is something that you would actually wear. These questions will help you to decide. Limitations on what you buy will give you a better ability to purchase wisely.

Many women shop safely or buy basic things such as an additional pair of jeans or a basic t-shirt. If you are going to shop at an outlet, don’t shop for basic items. Look for something special.

Always try on the item

Many women do this. I am guilty of it myself – buying an item without trying it on because it has a price tag that you cannot resist. You know that you are supposed to try it on and you opt out; instead buying the size that you think will fit you. This is a huge mistake. In most cases, when you try it on, you will know for sure that you don’t need it.
